Forced Cooling
O-TECH forced cooling units below are in stock locally and readily available.Additional Cooling is often required when AC Motors are operated with an Inverter Drive.
Extra Cooling is usually not required for mains operated motors in continuous duty.
O-TECH recommend that a forced cooling fan be fitted in any of the following applications:
• Drives with a high starting frequency
• Drives with an additional flywheel mass
• Inverter drives that operate continuously below 20 Hertz
• Inverter drives that must also generate rated torque at low speeds or even when stationary
At the lower frequency range, the standard ventilation of an electric motor is insufficient, so the motor has to be force cooled by means of an external cooling system.
We offer internally as well as externally mounted forced ventilation units for all Motor Frame Sizes.
O-TECH also offers Forced Cooling for Flame Proof Applications.
The internally mounted forced ventilation unit consists of an axial driven fan which is integrated in a fan cowl for protection against damage. The externally mounted unit consists of an axial flow impeller which is usually mounted in a Piggy Back configuration on the outside of the Cowl. The Externally mounted units make use of a Cast Iron IP55 motor and are therefore preferred for applications requiring a higher degree of protection.
